Piping design and installation for gas lines, refrigeration systems, air conditoning, and hvac installation. We have a full piping division that controls all design and installation for piping related matters for new construction as well as retrofits and replacement hvac work. We are certified to run the new code approved flexible gas lines in the City of Chicago. Steam pipe welding headers, manifolds, and on site fabrication are done by experienced pipe fitters at very affordable pricing.
Gas Pipe Design and Installation
Gas pipe must be pressure tested at the point of installation in order to have gas service connected. Here is an example of the testing method we use to gas pressur test in the City of Chicago. All new gas piping, alteration or repair, requires a pressure test inspection. The piping for residential pressure test shall stand a pressure of not less than three (3) pounds per square
inch gauge pressure. The test pressure shall be held for a length of time satisfactory to the
administrative authority, but in no case for less than ten (10) minutes with no drop in
pressure, using a 15 lb gauge measuring in 1/10 psi increments. For welded piping and
higher gas pressures, the test pressure shall not be less than sixty (60) pounds. Pipe size two
(2) inches and larger shall be tested with a recording device for a period of 24 hours. All shut off valves are required to be disconnected and properly capped off prior to filling the
system with air pressure. Also, the gas meter shall always be disconnected if you know that
air pressure will be introduced into the line going back to the meter. Not disconnecting the
meter can result in damaging of the equipment. If you have any questions about your gasmeter, contact PE&G
We provide gas pipe installation and repair gas leaks for homes and business. Relocating gas lines, splitting gas meters so each tentant pays their own gas bill, bad pipe sectionm replacement, gas pipe design, under ground gas pipe installation and new flexible gas pipe installation for the City of Chicago
Refrigeration Piping
It is critical that pipes be flushed out of all residual mineral oil when converting a sytem to a new HFC based refrigerant which uses POE oil. This process uses an inert gas such as nitrogen to purge the lines with high pressure. Additives can also be used to help aid in the elimination of acid material and sludge build up of severly contaminated ac systems. All of our welding on air condtioning and refrigeration piping is nitrogen purged at 2 psi when welding to eliminate oxidized build up during the pipe welding process. This insures the cleanest system possible. Refrigeration and ac pipe is also pressure testing using several methods to insure that there are no leaks at the point of charging the system with refrigerant. This is by holding the piping system in a 500 micton vaccum for 30 mins and once complete charged with nitrogen and put in a hold down test for an additional 30 mins. This insures that there a no freon leaks which can be extremely expensive for both the customer and contractor.
Boiler Steam Hot Water Piping
All of our boiler piping fabrication for steam and hot water boiler systems is fabricated on site using screw fittings at the swing joints and 3” and larger pipe is DC welded at the flanges using 2 line line up method for presision fits. Our pipe is beveled and a minimum of 3 pass on top of the root weld is used to insured the highest quality welds for high pressure steam as well as low pressure piping jobs. We have been welding and fitting pipes for chillers, steam and hot water boilers, water towers and flow sytems for 4 generations. When you need a hvac system piped we will insure that your system is piped to manufacturer specs or will have our design team stage the system to insure optimum performance and equipment longevity for your given situation.
Drain piping for AC Air Conditoning Condensate
PVC is the accepted method for drain lines on ac systems for the City of Chicago. PVC pipe will not rot and it is easy to install. Leaking ac drain lines can and usually cause damage to floors and cielings without detection until it is too late. We can repair clogged drain lines and install saftey devices that will detect water before the damage occurs. These devices are commonly called “wet switches” and can potentially save you 1000’s of dollars at a very minimal set up cost. Traps are also essential to efficiency in hvac sytems and must be designed and installed correctly or water damage may occur from your air conditioning system. Pipes in walls can leak and we have solutions for pipe repairs and location methods for finding leaks in hidden walls. This cost is less than you may think. Our methods are able to find the problems and offer solutions quickly saving you both time and money.
